A voice from Swindon
Liam — known to his listeners as Double Lion, and formerly as LeroyL — is an independent rapper born and raised in Swindon. His relationship with music began early, a genuine interest in rap that stayed with him even as life grew harder.
The harder years
Like many, Liam faced real challenges. There was a period of addiction, and a time spent living at Booth House, the Salvation Army hostel in Swindon — a place that offers shelter and support to people who have nowhere else to turn.
Turning a corner
Recovery is rarely a single moment. For Liam it has meant sustained effort and real change. He is now four years sober — a milestone built one day at a time — and has been rebuilding his life alongside his family.
Returning to music
With stability has come a renewed sense of purpose, and a return to the music that was always there. Double Lion's work today carries something it couldn't before: the perspective of someone who has come through the other side.
He hopes his music will reach people experiencing homelessness, addiction or difficult life circumstances — and help them believe that positive change is possible.
